Key Facts For End Users
Facilities that accommodate the processing of municipal solid waste, such as waste transfer stations and material recovery facilities, must demonstrate longevity and efficiency of operation. The concrete floor slab is critical to its efficient operation as it copes with the daily stresses and aggressive nature of the heavy operational traffic. Wheel loaders, wheel/hydraulic excavators and track loaders require a durable and reliable surface to operate on. The last thing a facility operator needs is a floor that cannot stand up to the daily operational demands and is in constant need of repair.
Getting the floor slab right is critical to your business. Whilst it is commonly accepted that the concrete floor slab will need to be replaced within the design working life of the facility, a steel fibre reinforced concrete (SFRC) ‘jointless’ design will significantly extend this period.
Loading shovel buckets fitted with steel scraping blades and loose hard waste being dragged across the surface will test the floor slab construction to the limit, particularly where a sawn induced joint is present. Specify a ‘jointless’ or totally seamless floor slab with a metallic dryshake hardener. It should contain hard metallic ferro-silicon aggregates and will provide an ultra-hardwearing, slip resistant and dense surface when powerfloated into a Twintec floor slab,
